In the bustling world of clean beauty, Kosas has emerged as a standout brand, known for its commitment to high-quality, innovative, and skin-loving products. And with a rare sitewide sale of 20% off this weekend, I wanted to spotlight some of my favorite items from them so you don’t have to pay full-price: Dreambeam SPF 40, Revealer Concealer, Blush is Life, and Wet Lip Oil. Let's explore what makes these products unique and whether they live up to the hype.
Dreambeam SPF 40
First Impressions
Dreambeam SPF 40 has been a hot topic on Instagram, and after much deliberation, I decided to give it a try. At $40 (regular price), it's definitely on the pricier side for a sunscreen, but the rave reviews convinced me to take the plunge.
Performance
I purchased both shades of Dreambeam and have been using them consistently. Here’s my take:
- Fragrance: Both shades have the same scent, which unfortunately reminds me of Jack Daniel’s. It’s not my favorite, so in this department, it does rank lower for me.
- Shades: The tan shade has a greenish undertone, which is great because it doesn't turn your skin orange. The lighter shade leans more towards pink.
- Application: This SPF doesn't peel or flake, and it lasts all day without bunching up around my hairline or settling into fine lines.
- Non-Greasy Formula: Unlike many SPFs that leave me looking like a greasy mess, Dreambeam has a lovely peachy hue and isn't greasy at all. It’s perfect for travel, and the packaging is adorable.
- Skin Benefits: To my surprise, it doesn’t break me out or irritate my rosacea. In fact, it seems to slightly help with redness.
Overall Verdict
Despite my initial hesitations and the scent, Dreambeam SPF 40 has become a potential holy grail item for me. It's effective, non-greasy, and doesn't irritate my sensitive skin. While it's a pricey investment, it could be worth it if you're looking for a high-performance SPF. Their 20% off sitewide sale does help soften the blow a bit, so I will be restocking during this sale!
Revealer Concealer
First Impressions
Revealer Concealer is one of Kosas' most talked-about products. Known for its lightweight and hydrating formula, it's designed to brighten and conceal without feeling heavy.
Performance
- Coverage: This concealer provides a beautiful, lightweight coverage. However, if you're looking for full coverage, this might not be enough. However, for those work-from-home girlies like me who just want a little enhancement, this could be sufficient.
- Daily Use: For me, this product is a holy grail. I'm on my second tube and use it daily. It brightens and conceals beautifully, and I’ve had no issues with shelf life – a tube lasts me about eight months.
- Versatility: One of my favorite ways to use this concealer is sheered out over my entire face as a tinted moisturizer. It gives a nice, healthy finish.
- Shades: The only downside is the shades – I have to mix two colors to get the right match, and most shades have a pretty yellow undertone.
Overall Verdict
Revealer Concealer is a standout product for its lightweight, hydrating formula. While the coverage may not be enough for everyone, it's perfect for daily use, providing a natural and radiant finish. If you can find your shade, it's definitely worth a try.
Blush is Life
First Impressions
Blush is Life promises highly pigmented, long-lasting color. Available in a range of shades, it’s designed to add a pop of color to your cheeks.
Performance
- Shade: I have the shades Butterflies and Euphoria, which looks lovely on my light olive skin. Even though it looks like there is a little shimmer in the pan, it thankfully doesn’t appear when you apply. In the photo, I’m comparing the following shades (top to bottom): Tower28 BeachPlease Cream Blush in Party Hour, Blush is Life in Butterflies, Blush is Life in Euphoria, and Nuse Liquid Blush in 03 Pale Blossom.
- Pigmentation: This blush is very pigmented. Personally, I prefer less pigmented blushes due to my round face and lack of defined cheekbones, as highly pigmented blushes can make me look clownish.
- Wear: It wears well throughout the day and doesn’t disrupt my base makeup.
Overall Verdict
Blush is Life is a great option if you love pigmented blushes. It wears well and looks beautiful on the skin. However, if you prefer a more subtle blush, this might not be the best choice for you.
Wet Lip Oil
First Impressions
Wet Lip Oil is designed to provide the shine of a gloss with the nourishing benefits of a balm. It’s a versatile product that aims to keep your lips looking and feeling their best.
Performance
- Texture: This lip oil feels like a thin balm on the lips. It’s not super sticky, which is a big plus for me.
- Appearance: I have the shade Jellyfish - the clear formula makes it easy to pair with any look. It always looks flattering and fresh, adding a natural shine to my lips. Don’t be afraid to layer this over other lip products - I’ve tested a few different combos with lip liners and matte lipsticks and love how it shakes up the look!
- Packaging: One of my qualms is the packaging, which makes it tough for me to get the last bit of the product out of the bottom, which feels a little wasteful.
Overall Verdict
Wet Lip Oil is a fantastic product for those who want a glossy look without the stickiness of traditional lip glosses. It’s nourishing and provides a beautiful, natural shine that enhances any look. The only feedback I have is to improve the smell a bit and make the packaging more efficient.
Overall, Kosas has made a significant impact in the clean beauty industry, offering products that combine performance with skin-loving ingredients. Dreambeam SPF 40, Revealer Concealer, Blush is Life, and Wet Lip Oil each bring something unique to the table. While there are some minor drawbacks, such as the scent of the SPF or the pigmentation of the blush, the overall quality and effectiveness of these products make them worthy additions to your beauty routine. Whether you're looking for a reliable SPF, a versatile concealer, a pigmented blush, or a nourishing lip oil, Kosas has something to offer.
